Banned again from dpreview …

I’ve hardly been active lately and I just received this nasty comment from the moderators at DPReview.

I have absolutely no idea what they are talking about … really.

What? Who? Why? When? I was just thinking you've not been very active on FTF.

Weird.

I'm really not sure. The only thing I can think of is sneaking in a joke to Royslaw at the end of one of those long and pointless discussions he likes to participate in. He mentioned that he would speak plain so folks could understand and I responded that "It is a wonder that some people call you arrogant" or something like that :-) ... I get tired of watching him twist everything just to prolong the argument, but I must have timed it just as the mods were looking at that thread (being very long.) No doubt someone was offended and that was that. No big deal ... I was hardly there the last while (at least by my standards.)

I saw that post. That was nothing. And that thread is not even on the home page list of top threads, but yeah, it makes one speculate because it's not obvious. I actually wondered if someone spoofed an email from them. There may be some latent weird bs going on behind the scenes that's just surfacing.

It's a bit ironic that the mods have no problem making a pointless, offensive comment to me in the ban notice, and yet will not include a reference to the alleged offense that I committed. I know they are pretty young, but it doesn't take a genius to know that we cannot read minds ... I have no idea which comment it was and who I could have offended lately.

This could be a clue.

I saw that one .... but he posted it well after I received the notification. His last 8 or 10 posts are pure baiting. I complained about that the other day when he baited 4 times in the same thread within half an hour. Of course, as we are all aware by now, he is immune. One day we will find out it's one of the mods giving in to his darker impulses :-)

If it was for that comment, it was nothing compared to what had gone before in that thread!

It's a shame as it was in parts an interesting discussion with some useful info on both sides but it started getting a bit repetitive!

That e-mail made me laugh:

incident: 129554

Wow, you do keep them busy Kim!

Yeah ... the people in it tend to get extremely invested in winning the argument. Over time, I have grown bored with that stuff ... and it gets me banned too often. Luckily, this time I simply pointed out a condescending comment to someone who makes a lot of them. That should be pretty safe ... or so I thought :-)

2 days away from posting does not really bug me at all ... the only thing that bothers me is that they get so condescending and then don;t even bother explaining which post it was. I can only speculate, and the one I assume it is is nothing compared to what some get away with all the time. Sheesh ... what a gong show.

Dotbalm ... I've read most of the action from this weekend and I must say that it is approaching tragic. The negative interpretation of her comment regarding your son was the correct one in my opinion ... the hidden agenda is in the adjectives. And to have given Slides yet another forum to spill his bile. I suspect that the FTF will be even less pleasant in the future than it has been recently.

Thanks for your comment and insights.

I saw some of it, but haven't been on the computer since Saturday. Tried to get out for the last day of the Rennaissance Fair but the rain on the drive down forced a change of plan. My son was dressed up as a knight (I think we do Medieval better than we do Rennaissance) and I thought of the photos from one of your shoots.

Anyway, for some reason I actually lose interest when people try so hard. And when they give up the "tell" as in the beginning of her comment, as well as the over-reach and hypocrisy she displayed, there is nothing left that I can prove or illuminate that the person hasn't already done (to themselves).

From that comment I view the person on their back and floundering so I lose interest like a cat after it catches a mouse.

So yeah, the context and terminology make it obvious ("sick little son"). The plausible deniability ("I hope he is well") is transparent. Some people got it immediately, others probably don't even know I have a terminally ill son. He was actually diagnosed recently with a 2nd terminal illness (he gets no breaks), but it's not as aggressive (prognosis of 5 yrs old unless we do chemo vs. the more aggressive prognosis of the original diagnosis of 2-3 yrs old).

Much as anyone may wish, this is a futile way to cause me distress. No one I care for could cause me distress with this comment, let alone a stranger. The silver linings have been slow to form, but the challenge has made us strong beyond the comprehension of many I believe, so I/we are immune to petty measures from the desperate.

The pendulum actually swung the other way - I'm thankful she has done the work for me. Saves me time and effot, give me another reference point in the history book.

Dotbalm, I really have no words to express my sorrow at hearing of your son's and your family's trials. It should never happen to anyone. And your comment about being strengthened unimaginably rings very true.

Regarding she who shall not be named ... hypocrisy does not even begin to cover her latest cyber stalking of me. My rather mild comments (significantly downgraded in fact from previous versions of the posts and not even linkable to her) are now the apparent subject of a US Federal Court Case. Or else she is completely full of sh-t and just blowing off steam :-)

Thank you.

I saw some FTF posts this AM. Unless there is something else I appreciate the TIC.

Same here. DB's "The plausible deniability ("I hope he is well") is transparent. Some people got it immediately" should have been clear to _anyone_ that is aware of just a small bit of forum history. She didn't write this to make her comment about DB's son plausible to DB. It was made to cover her intent, so unfamiliar readers would think that had no ulterior motive for her comments. I'm surprised that the "Forums ..." thread still lives. Maybe DPR's moderators have some inertia to overcome.

Luckily, "Forums..." has reached the max and will now fade away ... if the mods decide to go in there anyway, it won't be pretty ...
